The Librarian of Congress says its illegal to buy and unlock phones in the U.S. starting Jan. 26, but advocacy groups are questioning the law.
Starting Jan. 26, buying and unlocking a phone will no longer be legal in the U.S.
Although the Librarian of Congress, who determines any exemptions to a strict anti-hacking law called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), decided in October 2012 that unlocking cell phones would no longer be allowed, a 90-day window was provided during which people could still buy phones and unlock them.
Special Report It's that time of year again. As the Christmas lights go up, Wikipedia's donation drive kicks off. Wikipedia claims that the donations are needed to keep the site online. Guilt-tripped journalists including Heather Brooke and Toby Young have contributed to Wikipedia in the belief that donations help fund operating costs. Students, who are already heavily in debt, are urged to donate in case Wikipedia "disappears".
To demonstrate how an attacker could exploit this security hole, the experts made a proof-of-concept video. They showed that a cybercriminal could record a video of the targeted user via his/her own webcam and seamlessly post in on their Facebook timeline.
A few weeks ago, as I was writing a Facebook update, I noticed that a friend who had been arrested in Syria had “liked” a Facebook page dedicated to selling insurance policies. I was shocked and immediately checked his status to see whether he had been released. He had not updated his status for months, and yet he appeared to like some random page from a company that I do not believe he would have had any interest in anyway.
Plastic surgery ...is it a boon or a bane for mankind??take a look at transformations in some celebrities in terms of their physical appearance...all due to plastic surgery...
When we think about writing books, especially the technical kind, we think about a person or small group of people hunched over their keyboards typing away. There’s a good reason for that mental image: that’s how the majority of books are written. That’s not the way it has to be, though. Philip M. Parker, a marketing professor at INSEAD, has a patented system for algorithmically compiling data into book form. Thanks to Parker’s system, Amazon now has over 800,000 books for sale from his company. Other organizations pay for this service to compile data for their reports, so the system clearly has flexibility.
38 morts. C'était en 1927.

"Police are extremely concerned as there is no water supply within the Park and temperatures can reach as high as 46 degrees [Celsius] making this a potentially life threatening issue. Some of the motorists located by police have been stranded for up to 24 hours without food or water and have walked long distances through dangerous terrain to get phone reception."
We ran a few tests and this is what we found: most files arrive bit-for-bit identical compared to the files that were sent. But sure enough, MP3 files were downgraded considerably. The 5.12 MB stereo 228 kbps file I bought from Amazon was downgraded to 1.4 MB mono 62.4 kbps on receipt after transfer through Messages.
Why is this happening? We're honestly not sure and I'd rather not speculate. We've reached out to Apple for comment but do not expect a reply.
